Legal Aid of Arkansas is a public interest, not-for-profit law firm dedicated to assuring equal access to justice in civil matters for low-income Arkansans. Legal Aid provides free legal services in housing preservation, domestic justice, economic justice, and consumer protection.  

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Accounts Payable and Grants Specialist position in our Little Rock office. The position will work closely with the Fiscal Officer and Grants Manager and perform a variety of functions including but not limited to accounts payable, travel reimbursement and grants management.

 

Job duties may include:

·       General accounting, finance, and grants management activities for an organization with a budget of approximately $9,000,000 from more than two dozen funding sources.

·       Add grant and donation payments received into Salesforce and reconcile Salesforce with accounting software.

·       Grant invoicing and maintain grant budget to actuals. Engages in grant financial reporting.

·       Generating custom reports from Legal Aids Case Management and Accounting systems.

·       Assist with payroll for 80+ employees, including generating payroll reports for grants management.

·       Assist with month-end reconciliations to ensure accuracy and address discrepancies.

·       Input vendor information and invoices and verify accurate accounts and amounts are entered.

·       Assist in preparation for annual financial audits and communicating with auditors, and preparing monthly financial reports.

·       Ensure compliance and proper record retention is upheld for all financial records.

·       Maintain inventory database, asset tagging, and processing the disposal of assets.

·       Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Fiscal Officer, Grants Manager, other Fiscal Staff, or Executive Director.

 

Required qualifications:

·       Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

·       Excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.

·       Three years’ general accounting and payroll processing experience is preferred. Non-profit accounting experience a plus.

·       Proficiency in fund accounting software and familiarity with customer relationship management platforms. Salesforce experience a plus.

·       Experience with preparing grant-related performance reports is a plus.

·       Accounting/Finance related bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Compensation and Benefits: Compensation is based on a competitive public interest salary scale ranging from $44,771 to $73,745, DOE. Benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave; student loan repayment; and retirement plan.
