Johnie M Rodgers lives in Elaine and is a retired “In-Home Health Care Worker.”  She began receiving Medicaid in 2007. Johnie M has four prescription medications. The highest that she has paid for a medication is $23 and fortunately she is no longer taking this medication. Having Medicaid allows her to pay her bills and buy food.  Johnie M says that if she did not have Medicaid, she would not be able to go to the doctor or to have her medications filled.  She says that her children would have to pay for her medication and doctor visits, and they cannot afford to do this. Having Medicaid allows her to enjoy life and maintain her health without having to worry about mounting medical bills.
