Brenda is retired. She retired due to the pain that she was experiencing in her back. She suffers from hypertension, diabetes, and back pain.  Brenda was taking Metformin for her diabetes, but she had fears as to the side effects of the medication and she stopped taking Metformin two years ago. She now takes Amaryl for her diabetes and Hydrocodone for her back pain. She cannot name all her medications but states she takes cholesterol medicine, hypertension, and medication for Sacroiliac nerve pain. 

Brenda receives Medicaid and Medicare. She qualifies for Medicaid as a Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB). She states that she would not be able to afford her medication if she did not have this type of Medicaid. She has no co-pays or balances.
