Returning Vets Face Legal Problems

Returning veterans can face many challenges upon reentering civilian life. There are many areas involved in the readjustment, including:

1. Re-establishing/re-evaluating relationships with family and friends

2. Finding a new career path

3. Psychological effects of traumatic experiences

A case in point:
A returning veteran with PTSD agreed to waive his visitation rights with his young daughter for almost a year while he sought medical treatment (he did not seek legal counsel when he did this).  After successful medical treatment, he tried to reestablish contact with this daughter, but his ex-wife would thwart him at every turn. Legal Aid attorneys took his case and were able to settle the case on the day of court. After a brief phase in period, he got full visitation rights.
